The Yakap at Halik Multipurpose Cooperative Quezon 2 (YHMPC) founded Team Aqua to help fisherfolks in the municipalities of Padre Burgos, Agdangan, and Unison improve their lives. Fisherfolks has the highest poverty incidence in the country. One of them is Nelson Angeles, also known as Mang Boy. Life was tough as Mang Boy struggled to look for other sources of income. Fishing is a seasonal livelihood, with little fish to catch from November to March because of the northeast monsoon or “amihan”. Life turned around for Mang Boy when he became a member of Team Aqua, a group organized by Yakap at Halik Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Quezon (Yakap at Halik) to manage projects that will generate extra income for fisherfolks in Padre Burgos, Agdangan, and Unisan. In partnership with the Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF), team Aqua built fish cages and fishpond managed now by Mang Boy and other members of the group. These fishpond and cages yield a variety of fish such as bangus, grouper, lapu-lapu, mudcrab, and sugpo.

Cooperation and Conservation is a short film about PEF GA member Roberto “Ka Dodoy” Ballon Jr., who chairs a fisherman’s organization based in the municipality of Kabansalan in Zamboanga Sibugay and their community as they work towards improving their incomes while protecting their marine resources. The ACOGMAC was organized in 2009 with 183 coffee growers. Lack of capital hampered the group from meeting the orders and demand for arabica beans during its initial years. The cooperative linked up with organizations to beef up its finances, increase production, improve the quality of coffee beans, as well as upgrade farming practices. Through these linkages, ACOGMAC partnered with the Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF) for trainings on good agricultural practices, among others. ACOGMAC produces around 500 pouches of ground coffee a month that are sold in Benguet and in Metro Manila. Chocolate de San Isidro (CSI) has been giving technical support on farm management, but some farmers still find it hard to adopt to technologies they are not accustomed to. He however credited some of the best practices of CSI in planting the right kinds of seedlings, fertilization, pruning and harvesting that has helped other farmers produce quality beans. CSI was formed through the support of Department of Trade and Industry and the local government unit of San Isidro, Davao del Norte. The enterprise is engaged in trading of beans and processing of tablea and cacao nibs mostly sourced from around 600 farmers with approximately 1,000 hectares of cacao farms. CSI has been a partner of Peace and Equity Foundation since 2013.

This video was shown on September 7, 2018 during the handover ceremony of Kauswagan Water & Sanitation Service Cooperative (KAWSSCO) water system project in Poblacion, Barili, Cebu. KAWSSCO, one of our partners in the Visayas region, recognizes PEF for successfully implementing the rehabilitation of the coop's water systems. Benefitting nearly 2,000 households in Barili town, southwest Cebu, the project was done in partnership with Coca-Cola Foundation. With the goal of providing safe and affordable water to communities countrywide, PEF has invested over 200 million in various water projects across the country.
